Lol is anything surprising anymore on this blog? Last week it was colonics, today it’s V-Steams.
Honestly though in terms of the two, I was WAY less nervous for the V-Steam.
Let’s start with what the heck is a V-Steam. Well I went back to Clean Start John’s Creek (remember when I said this wouldn’t be the last time you heard about them?) and Nicole (remember her?) explained it in a way I could totally understand.
A V-Steam is basically a facial for your hoo-hah.
Why should you do it? Wellll it’s been a thing for a long long time…like since Mayan Culture long time. Not to mention Gwyneth is all about it, BUT having a little steam is said to:
- Significantly reduce discomfort, bloating and exhaustion associated with monthly cycles
- Decrease menstrual flow as well as reduce dark purple or brown blood at the onset or end of menses
- Regulate irregular or absent menstrual cycles
- Increase fertility, especially when combined with Mayan abdominal massage
- Speed healing and tone the reproductive system after birth
- Treat uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, uterine weakness and uterine prolapse
- Assist with the healing of hemorrhoids
- Treat chronic vaginal/yeast infections, and maintain healthy odor
- Relieve symptoms of menopause

So what’s the process?
At Clean Start Johns Creek, you enter a room with wooden boxes placed inside. Each box has a towel on top and a hole in the middle where the steam is released. See above. Then you pick the herbs that aid in whatever issue you’re trying to address. The herbs are either loose or in like a large tea bag. It’s a very holistic process and your specialist can help you pick whatever is right for you.
After that you pick a fun cover up so you aren’t all awkward and exposed, and sit down on the box. Then for 30 minutes you just kind of sit there and let the steam work it’s magic. I read some emails, caught up on some Instagram engagement, etc. etc. I mean, I’m sure you are supposed to relax and treat it like a spa treatment, but I’m too type A for that. I’m all about some passive multi-tasking–I mean I’m wearing a green tea mask and having a collagen water while I write this.
Here are two things Nicole said that I feel are really important if you’re going to get a V-Steam. The most important, which I feel like is obvious, but just in case…if it’s too hot, stand up. Do not burn your va-jay-jay. Seriously. At Clean Start, I was able to control when the box was on and off so I was never at risk of burning.
#2 make sure you aren’t on your period. Not to have a TMI moment, but nothing can go in the box except herbs and hot water. You won’t be able to go through with your appointment if you’re on your period.
Overall, it was relaxing and I felt pretty good afterwards. I didn’t have any particular issue I was trying to address, so I can’t speak to if helped any issues. I just did a general cleanse to test it out since we’ve clearly established I will do anything for a blog post lol.
Remember if you go to Clean Start Johns Creek and use my name you can get $10 off any service.
Have you ever tried a V-Steam? If not, would you?
First time I’ve heard of this, seems very beneficial for women!

Wow, I have never heard of doing this! I kinda want to try it now! Earlier this year I totally messed up taking my birth control pills and since then I have had the worst period cycles – so it would probably be something good for me to try! Thanks for sharing!!!
I have learned something new today!!! I haven’t heard of this before, but sounds interesting. I have infertility and I will try just about anything to help my situation. Sounds really beneficial in so many ways.
I have NEVER heard anything about this in my life….as I’m currently having awful cramps this sounds like something that would help with that!!! I’m VERY curious to see your review, as you use this more then a few times, to see if there are any amazing benefits to it! Thank you so much for sharing!
Okay so I had never heard of this until today, but wow I’m so intrigued lol. Love all the benefits!
Whoa! I’ve heard of this before but I never knew they had this many benefits! I’m going to look into this!
Oh my gosh! I had no idea this was even a thing! haha I’m so self conscious and feel weird about this sort of thing for some reason. But after reading this post and your colonics post, I’m really wanting to try it out! haha
Oh this sounds interesting haha. I definitely didn’t know this was a thing. I will have to look into it.
Oh wow, this is definitely NOT something I would ever do – I hated just being in a normal sauna ? It’s always good to try new things though!
GIRL you do all the craziest things here!!! I love it hahaha. Not sure if I would do a V-steam, but I didn’t even know they existed!
