Guys. It’s Friday. We made it! I mean, it was a little touch and go there for a bit but we came out victorious on the other side.
Let’s talk about the interesting craze sweeping the internet–have you seen the foot exfoliation peeling masks? The concept is that you wear these plastic bags on your feet for an hour, then a week later your entire foot peels off and you’re left with baby soft feet.
Sounds like a good idea in theory so, of course, I had to test it and report back.
So I tried this foot peeling mask. It came highly recommended on Amazon and was a #1 best seller so I went for it.
I’m going to be honest..I was a little disappointed, but I’ll get into that in a minute.
First, you need to soak your feet in warm water. Then make sure they are very clean and dry. I think part of my problem was I didn’t soak my feet long enough. I definitely want to try the second pair and will adjust how long I soak my feet.
The plastic bag socks were very easy to put on. You cut along the red line, stick your feet in the sock-bag, fold the excess over and tape closed with the red tape provided.
Once my bags were securely on, I watched an episode of Grey’s Anatomy and worked on some blog things for an hour while they did their thing. Then I took them off, threw them away, soaked my feet in warm water again and that was that.
Now what I was expecting was not what happened.
I’ve seen videos and articles about these feet peeling masks, and the results are extreme. I have seen pictures and videos of feet than have skin peeling off in sheets. So I was expecting to be walking around and just step right out of my old skin. Shed it like a snake.
That didn’t happen.
It took about four days, but then my feet did start to peel. I didn’t have a snake like experience though. More like a scaly fish. It was more of a flaky peel rather than a satisfying transformational peel. They peeled for about two weeks consistently (P.S. buy lots of socks if you are going to do a peeling mask, just trust me!) and then slowed. Every once in awhile they start to peel a little around the sides, but are mostly finished.
And honestly, I don’t think my feet feel that different. I don’t think the masks did anything that a good pedicure or a foot smoother couldn’t do. Which if you don’t have a foot smoother, you should totally get one because it’s money.
So while I wasn’t super thrilled with the results, I do want to give them a second chance. The pack I bought comes with two sets, so I plan on using the other set this weekend. Maybe with some extra pre-soaking things will be different. I’ll keep you posted!
Have you ever tried a foot exfoliating peeling mask? What did you think?
Oh my gosh girl thank you so much for sharing this I’m going to struggle of wanting to get my feet in great shape for summer and sandal weather but I do not want to spend money on a pedicure when I know it’s just going to get ruined I’d rather do a pedicure at home! I’m definitely going to pick this up I need this so badly right now thank you so much for sharing this this is such a smart idea XO
This sounds like something I might really enjoy. And so glad it’s on Amazon too!
This looks so interesting! I have super dry/cracked feet so I was hoping you’d have a good experience with it because it sounds pretty cool. Hopefully your next try will be more satisfactory!
I haven’t! I’ve tried the SC foot masks and enjoyed those. This one sounds interesting, but based on your review idk if I’d get it ha.
Thanks for such an honest review. I always appreciate when fellow bloggers share negative experiences as well as positive ones. I’m sorry the mask didn’t go as planned. I hope the second try goes better!
Honestly, this seems like too much waiting for me – and a lot of work. I hate socks, so I probably wouldn’t be too keen on wearing socks to hide the shedding. Ha! I’m very curious to hear how the second try works with a longer pre-soak time.
I love this idea! I haven’t tried this but my feet could use it!
Hmmmm haven’t tried one, but definitely want to – it sounds so weirdly satisfying!!!
I have seen videos on this and have been wanting to try it but I am worried about the peeling lol Looks so gross.
