The new year has me so empowered to change and be better. I’m only 11 days in, but I hope it sticks. I’ve been working hard in my 21-Day Fix. I’ve been doing my workouts, following my nutrition plans, and drinking tons of water.
Last night, I started my teeth whitening kit. I will review that in a few days after I’ve finished my first batch of treatments.
I’ve even been taking care of my blog. I’ve been responding to comments and posted 5 times last week. Hear that?? 5! That’s unheard of around here. I even had a post become one of my most popular posts.
So while I’m taking care of my body and my blog, I also want to take care of my mind. One of my many goals in 2016 is to read more. This was one of my goals last year too, and I failed…miserably. I’m not going to let that happen this year.
Here’s what I’m doing….
– Downloading the free Prime book. Did you know that if you have an Amazon Prime membership, you get a free Kindle book every month? I’ve had Amazon Prime for years now and had no idea this was a thing. It’s not just some crappy book either. They give six editor’s picks and you get to pick one in whatever genre you’re feeling. You can get the Kindle app on your phone or tablet.
– Joining a book club. One of my college besties is also trying to read more this year and started a book club. It’s going to keep me accountable to have others reading the same book by a deadline. I know Erin hosts a great book challenge too.
– Carrying a book everywhere I go. I read a whole book in a few days just by having it with me all the time. I read it while I waited for things, during lunch, etc. Now that I have some Kindle books, I’ll carry my iPad.
–Make time to read. I started taking more baths because of my constant working out. Sometimes you just need to soak your tired muscles. What this has given me is time to read! Even when I’m not soaking, I still try to carve out a little time every day to read.
– Read books I actually own. I have more books that I own and have never read than I care to admit. I obviously showed interest in these books when I bought them, so this year I am determined to read them!
How are you reading more in 2016?
