Well, the secret is out! I announced on YouTube yesterday that I quit my full-time job and am starting Hel On Heels Digital. If you missed the big announcement here it is:
So today I want to talk a little bit more about what went into my decision and what I am anticipating in the future. I feel like a blog post helps me gets my thoughts a little more organized rather than word-vomiting through a YouTube Video.
For the past few months, I’ve been pretty unhappy at my job. Nothing wrong with the company and I didn’t leave on bad terms–but we had gone through a restructure and when things shook out I didn’t love where I landed. It wasn’t in-line with my long-term goals (both personal and professional.) I was working really long hours, missing my husband and my sweet fur-babes, and working in an industry I didn’t love.
I decided it was time for a change and I didn’t want to do just anything. I was tired of working towards someone else’s dream and wanted to start hustling after my own.
My husband is the world’s most supportive man and was the first to help me figure out a plan. I’ve always worked in marketing–primarily in non-profit marketing, fundraising, development, and event planning. I’ve also worked in an agency, and obviously, run Hel On Heels on the side. I love strategy, research and reporting.
Hel On Heels Digital will be a combination of all of the above. I will be utilizing the skills I’ve learned over the years to help others. I want to help small businesses and lifestyle brands grow their brand and marketing. Hel On Heels Digital will specialize in content creation, social media management, branding, email marketing, blogs and articles, and styled shoots.
I also have an Etsy shop where companies can purchase à la carte items if they aren’t ready to talk about big marketing strategies. I’m rolling this out slowly and have a few products available today. I’m hoping this will be a less overwhelming way for new businesses to get started with their marketing.
I kept it under the Hel On Heels umbrella because I anticipate working with the same types of brands for both businesses. I like working in the lifestyle and small business vertical with my blog and I want to expand my brand to help others.
I’m obviously excited and talking a lot about this. I appreciate all of your support of Hel On Heels over the years and I hope you’ll continue to follow along with Hel On Heels Digital. My new company is on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
What does this mean for the blog?
Hel On Heels Blog isn’t going anywhere. If anything, you will just have more. More content, more videos, just more! I’m excited to really grow my blog while I grow my new business. I have plenty of ideas for this space too. So I’m excited to get back to regularly posting and more content.
Thank you guys for everything over the years. I am so excited for this opportunity to bring more content, brands, and topics you love.
XO,
Hel
