Holy smokes, it’s 2020! Welcome to a new year and a new decade.
You may have come to the Hel On Heels site recently and realized things look a little different. You aren’t seeing things. I did a little updating and gave the site a fresh new look.
My old site was fine, but it didn’t accomplish everything I wanted to do with my blog. I’ve always said that I treat Hel On Heels like a digital magazine written your best friend. I write about lots of different topics, but with an honest and real perspective. My new site has more of a literal magazine website feel.
I purchased the “Hayes” theme from <em>press and customized it the way I wanted it. I like that this theme gives me the flexibility to add and change content as I please. For example, right now I have a “beauty tips and tricks” feature with some of my favorite beauty posts. If I want to feature something different next week, I can do that.
I was also able to update the font/colors as I wanted. I could keep the pink and black colors of my brand but make them a little less jarring and contrasting. Overall, I’m happy with how it looks now. I have a few more pages I want to build out and edit, so you may still see a few changes. For now though, I like what we’re working with! I feel like I’m properly set up to succeed in 2020.
Resolutions
I love a fresh new year. I’ve been reflecting a lot on 2019 and how I want to grow and move forward in 2020. I like to set resolutions and goals for the next year and I truly feel like this is going to be my year.
I looked back at my 2019 resolutions and I didn’t accomplish any of them fully. I definitely want to be intentional about my resolutions this year. Here are my big three for 2020.
One: Consistently post. I really want to regularly post on my blog and social media. I want to be diligent with my YouTube Videos and Podcast episodes. I got very busy and distracted in 2019 and honestly it was not one of my best blogging years. I really want to grow this space this year and I am willing to put in the work to do it.
Two: Make a healthy lifestyle change. I want to drink water regularly! I asked for a Hydroflask for Christmas. I’m putting reminders in my planner to drink. I don’t like water, I wish it were Diet Coke, but I know how important it is to drink water. So I’m going to work on it. Stephen and I have also subscribed to HelloFresh again so we can cook at home rather than picking up Chicken Nuggies from Chick-fil-A when we’re busy. I’m also planning a regular exercise routine. I am excited about this and have already started. I’ll fill you in soon!
Three: Balance. I experienced extreme stress and anxiety in 2019. I got myself so worked up and had to make so many changes to reset. By the end of the year I had achieved peace. I still have some residual stress and anxiety that flares up, but I have cut some really toxic factors from my life and replaced them with things that make me happy. I experienced a TON of change in 2019. In 2020, I want to be happy and centered. I want to spend time with the people I love and do things that make me feel fulfilled.
I’m so excited about this year…even if “Friends” did get taken off Netflix today. What are you looking forward to in 2020?
