Happy Hump day! After a long weekend away, I’m back home with Hubbs and Molly and Mimosa. You may have seen on Instagram that I spent a very fun and relaxing weekend with my mama in Fort Lauderdale. She was there for work and and extended her trip so we could have some girl time at the beach.
We had a blast! We spent a long weekend at Lago Mar Beach Resort and Club. This resort was beautiful and it was perfect to be next to the waves with a pina colada for a few days. I really really needed a weekend to relax and I loved being able to go with my mama. I could go on and on about our trip and how wonderful it was, but today I want to focus on the actual resort.
First, let’s focus on the resort itself. Here are some of the highlights:
-THE POOL! Oh my gosh can we just talk about this pool for a hot sec. It’s stunning, full of palm trees, just the right temperature. I love how it’s laid out uniquely. The resort has two pools–the other is for adults and much quieter, but it’s really nice to have the option of both. Also I can’t get over this view.
-There are also plenty of activities. Large chess, shuffleboard, basketball courts, live entertainment, a children’s playground, a resort shop, and a little putting green.
-Lago Mar also has a Spa! We didn’t make it down there because we didn’t want to leave the beach, but I read over their services in my resort binder and they have everything from massages to wraps, to facials.
-There is also a 500-ft stretch of beach. Lago Mar offers complimentary beach chairs, and umbrella and cabana rentals.
-This is just a fun extra, but the resort has iguanas roaming around everywhere. I was highly entertained watching them scurry up trees.
Ok let’s talk food. Lago Mar has six restaurants plus room service.
Saturday night, we ate at Acquario which is the fancy dinner restaurant. This one recommends a reservation and has a live piano player. We had lobster mac and cheese, calamari, and crab cakes. I love seafood…not just like it a lot, but would eat it every single day if I were Kardashian rich. I was so pleased with this meal because everything was mouth-watering delicious.
During the day we either went to the Promenade Bar next to the pool and split a shrimp quesadilla (although mostly this is where we got our coladas and mojitos), or we went the the Soda Shop to get a to-go turkey club so we could enjoy it on our balcony and play cards.
We didn’t try any of the others, but they also have a buffet, an ocean grill where you can roll up in your bathing suit and flip flops for a burger, and a wine cellar for late night sipping.
I did have a few things about this hotel that I didn’t love. One thing I didn’t realize ahead of time is that it is also is a country-club situation where locals can purchase a membership and use the facilities and services anytime. This meant that there were kids everywhere. Not that I don’t like kids, but on vacation this was a bit much. It would be perfect for families though. I just don’t have kids so I get overwhelmed in large crowds of children.
The other thing was everything was charged to your room number. It would have been nice to use cash or a credit card for food and drink rather than having a large bill at the end.
Have you ever been to Fort Lauderdale? What’s your favorite part?
How fun is that! Perfect for some rest and relaxation!
It looks so pretty there. How fun that there are iguanas around! And you look great in that bathing suit too!
My mom and I need a getaway like weeks ago!!! We may go here, looks great!
Looks like you had a lot of fun! I am dying for a tropical vacation haha.
THIS makes me want a tropical vaca! Michael’s parents moved to Florida recently and we haven’t gone to visit yet! This spring we’ll BE THERE
What a fun getaway – there’s just something magical about good ol’ palm trees overhead!!
I love this!! My daughter is in her teens and I dream of doing something like this with her one day!! I know she would love it!!!
I’d love to do this with my daughter some day. She’s only 2.5 so I’ve got a ways to go lol. Such beautiful pictures!
This looks so fun!! I love the Fort Lauderdale area. My family and I used to live in Gainesville which is much further north, but we used to travel down to South Florida a lot. It’s almost magical down there. I can’t even pinpoint why! haha but it looks like you had so much fun!
