It’s officially summer, which means it’s time for beachy waves. Today, I’m sharing how I achieve my mermaid vibes.
First things first, after I wash and towel dry my hair, I rub a dime sized of coconut milk anti-breakage serum through my hair, concentrating on the ends. Then I spritz coconut water throughout. You can choose to dry it after this, but I don’t. I let it air dry. It’s perfect because your hair now smells like a mermaid’s too!
Then I use the T3 Whirl Trio. This is my favorite wand because it comes with different interchangeable barrels to achieve different looks. I use the 1-inch barrel for everyday, or the 1.5-inch, but I like pretty bouncy curls so I use this less often. To achieve my mermaid look though, we are using the cone shaped barrel.
So I separate my hair into sections to make it more manageable. I just take top layers and roll it into a bun.
Then I take small 1-inch sections and wrap around the wand. Don’t use the next photo as an example. I point the top of the barrel down and evenly wrap my hair from the bottom to the top. I also make sure to alternate each piece with the way I wrap it. Example, one piece I’ll wrap towards my face, the next I’ll wrap away. This way my curls don’t stick together and I don’t get ringlets.
When I finish that section, I clip it with two metal clips. I just got these from Conair a million years ago. Then I let the next section down and repeat until my whole head is curled.
This is what the wrap is supposed to look like. Use this photo not the other lol. I hold the ends out to give more of a beachy look. When I do my every day hair I wrap them as well though.
Next I flip my head over and run my fingers through the curls to loosen them up.
Next I use this headband from Headbands of Hope. This organiztion is great because for every headband that is sold, another is donated to a child with cancer.
Then I spritz with a little more coconut water and call it a day.
Do you like the beachy waves? Do you use coconut water?
Great tutorial! I’ve never tried the coconut water/serum, and I’m always looking for good products to use on natural curls–it’s hard to find!! I’ll have to check those out 🙂

I love Headband of Hope! I’m a pediatric cancer survivor, so I love how much they give back to kids like me. I really want to get that curling iron set but I just can’t justify spending that kind of money on one yet. One day, though, because it looks like it does a great job!

I’m sure that’s not true! It took me a long time to work a curling iron properly.
