Fall is coming! It may be 92 degrees and feel like 98 outside, but I know fall is coming. Shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has really gotten me in the mood for maple pecan lattes, tweed skirts and boots.
Since I’ve decided I’m ready for fall, today I’m styling the Steve Madden chain link mules from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale with Spanx leggings. Here are four ways to style these items. These are all good for work!
I am wearing a 7 in the mules. I have seen several reviews that say to size up the mules a half size, but that was not the case for me. Also, I needed my normal size 7. A half-size-up would have been way too large. I would say they run true to size.
I do size up in the Spanx leggings. Since the leggings are made by a compression undergarment company, they are tight and hold you in. Now, this is a good thing because they are super flattering, but I definitely size up so you have a little breathing room.
Four Ways to Style Mules with Leggings
Sweater, Leggings and Mules
An easy, low-maintenance outfit is to throw an oversized sweater over your leggings. This one is included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It is meant to be oversized, but you can definitely size it down if you want it a little closer to your actual size. I am wearing a L which is my normal size. I am wearing it oversized which I prefer, especially with leggings.
Leggings, Mules, Tank, and Cardigan
Throwing a cardigan over a monochrome outfit is a very easy, but classic workwear look. I already owned this color-blocked cardigan, but I linked a few similar ones above. I love having the cardigan match the mules and then keeping your leggings and tank or tunic the same color.
With Sleeveless Sweater
This sleeveless sweater is one of my favorite pieces I purchased during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I put it over a long sleeve tunic. Both the tunic and the sweater are long so they cover up the leggings on their own. I am one of those people who like to cover my butt when I wear leggings. Especially for work. So these pieces are perfect. I already owned the tunic, but linked a few similar options.
With Trench, Tunic, and Bag
Ok, obviously if it’s raining, maybe skip the mules. However, you can throw them easily in your bag to change out of your wet shoes and into these once you get in the office. I already own my trench coat, but I am linking a very similar one that is on sale right now. The bag is older too, but I am linking two similar, affordable options as well.
