DIY Little Blue Truck Halloween Costume

My son loves “The Little Blue Truck” books. So for Halloween last year, we made him a “Little Blue Truck” Halloween costume. I absolutely love how it turned out. He loved his costume and it was quite the hit at parties and trick-or-treating.

The first thing we did was find a Cozy Coupe with the eyes. After 2009, the Little Tikes Cozy Coupes got eyes. They are perfect for the Little Blue Truck vibes. We found ours at the All4Kids consignment sale in Atlanta, so definitely check Facebook marketplace, garage sales, consignment sales, etc. to get one for cheap.

We used blue painters tape and covered the eyes, wheels, etc. and then spray painted the entire car blue. We used Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paint in Brilliant Blue.

Once the paint dried, we peeled the tape off the eyes, license plate, etc. Then we crafted the front piece out of cardboard and paint. To do that, we just drew what we wanted it to look like, cut it out and painted the lines with black and grey craft paint. My husband attached it with a small screw.

Now, obviously, it’s cardboard, so it can’t get wet, but it’s perfect for a Halloween costume.

Then we completed his costume by letting him select which barnyard pal he wanted to be from the “Little Blue Truck” books. He selected the cow. So we found this cute cow costume on Amazon.

To complete the look, we also selected animals from the books. So my husband and parents and I dressed up as a chicken, a toad, a goat and a pig with animal ears and colored shirts.

We love our Little Blue Truck and even reused it for our Christmas card by placing a small tree on top. So it looked like the “Little Blue Truck Christmas” book.
