I attended a destination wedding in Tulum last week! I had never been to Tulum, so I was very excited about our trip and planning my Tulum style guide for the week. We had the best time and I will be sharing a full Tulum travel guide this week. However, in this post, I’m sharing everything I wore in Tulum and some travel necessities when packing for a trip to Mexico.

Tulum Style Guide: What I Wore in Tulum
Swimsuits in Tulum
I brought some of my favorite swimsuits from this post plus a few new additions! This black asymmetrical wrap two-piece swimsuit is one of my favorites! I like the high-waisted bottoms and the one-shoulder top for security. The wrap-around creates a unique twist to the standard top. Mamas, this is a good one if you want to feel sexy, but also feel covered up.
So nice I bought it twice! You may remember the pink version of this color block monokini. Also, I wore it in St. Simons over winter break. I loved that suit so much that I had to have the blue version too. I love the royal blue and aqua color combination. Also, I think it looks great on everyone, but I also think it makes blonde hair pop.
Here is that same suit in hot pink! I also brought this swimsuit and wore it on the first day when we got to Tulum.
Tulum Travel Outfit
I am going to wear this dress ALL summer. It actually made a few appearances in Tulum, but the first time I wore it was traveling. It is a great, comfy throw-on dress. This is the softest dress so I was so comfortable on the plane. It also has pockets, a crossover back and a drawstring waist so it can easily be dressed up. It was perfect to throw on after the beach too when I just wanted to be comfy. I paired it with my eyelet tennis shoes for the travel day and sandals for shopping in town.
Tulum Outfits
The first night in Tulum we had a tequila tasting and group dinner. I wore this fantastic, flowy floral midi dress. It was so perfect for a night in Tulum. Because it is so lightweight, I stayed cool through the whole evening.
Ok, Ben wasn’t in Tulum with me, but I also wore this great lemon dress for Mother’s day and got a better picture of it that day so you get also get a cute pic of Ben in this post. I wore this lemon dress for a “cocktails with the couple” celebration on the roof of our hotel. This is a very comfy maxi dress and would be great for a dinner in Tulum.
Beach Wedding Style
For the beach wedding, I had a hard time deciding what to wear. I was worried about sweating through any solid-colored dress. I had brought a few options, but I just didn’t want to be stuck getting overheated and sweating through a dress. My front runner was this teal maxi dress, but I talked myself out of it. So, I ended up re-wearing this great black dress. I wore this New Year’s Eve and was actually thrilled that I threw it in my suitcase at the last minute. Also, I felt great and wasn’t concerned about sweating through a dress.
A few things I forgot to get a picture of, but still packed and loved are listed below.
I wore this crocheted top over the black bikini I mentioned earlier. It is a cute cropped tank with ruffle sleeves. I paired it with my 5″ long denim shorts and it was a cute look to wear to the beach club.
Also, I had this crocheted coverup that was a cute little dress. I paired it with my ruched mom suit so I had on a full suit underneath and didn’t feel too overly exposed. This was my last beach-day look since I had had lots of food and drink by the end and wanted the most flattering suit.
Tulum Accessories
My friend Katie started the cutest jewelry business called Autumn Road. She makes the most beautiful jewelry pieces, but my favorite accessory from her company this season is the sunglass chain. I have this one in a black, white and brown combination. It matched lots of my suits and I loved having it in Tulum.
Also, I wore these bracelets and this emerald necklace a lot while in Tulum. They are both part of her line as well!
I loved having a belt bag in Tulum. I have this one from Target and loved it during the travel day, but also just walking around in Tulum. So, I brought it to everything. It was great for holding my passport, phone, and travel accessories. It also holds a full bottle of sunscreen too!
My cat-eye sunglasses are some of my favorites and they are not expensive. So if they got lost I would be ok. I wear these a lot and really love them.
