My sweet baby boy turned one last week! It’s hard to believe how quickly that year went by. Since he was born in 2021, we didn’t have a lot of chances to celebrate him. So now that it is safer, we were able to have a fun party for him! His first birthday party had a “Cash Cab” theme. My son’s name is Ben Bailey and the host of “Cash Cab” is also named Ben Bailey. So that’s how we ended up on a “Cash Cab” New York birthday party theme for our one-year-old.
Big clarification: my child is not named for the comedian Ben Bailey, it’s just a coincidence that they have the same name!
A Cash Cab Themed Birthday Party
It was such a fun day to celebrate Ben! My favorite part of the party was this incredible backdrop. I ordered the fringe backdrop from Oh My Darling Party. I found the listing on Etsy. The entire fringe backdrop was customizable so you could select the size and colors. We went with taxi cab colors.
The Balloons
Then Chelsea from Chels Has Balloons created this incredible balloon garland in taxi colors to go around the backdrop. I ordered the little custom taxi cab photo booth car from Crafty Paper Corp on Etsy as well.
We wanted to go with New York-Style street food, but make it party-friendly. So we served pretzels and pretzel bites, bagel bites, pigs in a blanket, charcuterie cups, chicken nuggets, and then cupcakes and cookies.
We ordered the pretzels, pretzel bites and pigs in a blanket (mini pretzel dogs) from Pretzel Maker. We had nugget trays from Chick-Fil-A. The Pizza Bagels were just from Costco. My sister made the cupcakes and cookies. She makes baked goods for parties. You can follow her on the Lovely Lurline Instagram account. I made the charcuterie cups and ordered the adorable New York-themed cups from Divine Glitters on Etsy. I plan to have a full post on the cups soon.
Check out my post on how to make charcuterie letters here.
I also ordered “Ben & M’s” that were adorable M&M’s with Ben’s face printed on them. I ordered them directly from the M&M website.
For favor boxes, I ordered these black boxes from Amazon and placed a sticker designed by FunKissed on Etsy on each box. I filled each box with yellow and white candy from Party City. I included jelly beans, rock candy, little chocolate balls, yellow and white lollipops, kettle corn and more.
Also, I purchased little Hershey bars and individually wrapped them with these chocolate bar wrappers featuring a taxi cab. I spread these out on various tables.
Other details I included was these taxi straws, this personalized “I Love Ben” sign, these cupcake toppers, this taxi garland, this “Hail a Taxi” sign, this table skirt, these taxi centerpieces, and then I put black and white portraits of Ben in these white frames.
Jennifer from Keikilani Photography came to photograph the whole event and we are so thankful to have so many pictures of Ben and the people who love him celebrating his birthday. I highly recommend hiring a photographer for your parties so you can enjoy the day and make sure you have pictures at the end of it. If you are in the Atlanta area and looking for a photographer, we love Jennifer! She has taken all of Ben’s milestone portraits.
Are you a Cash Cab fan? What was your first baby’s birthday party theme?
