Hello, friends! Welcome to the new HelenGBailey.com! I’m so glad you’re here. I am breaking down why I rebranded from Hel On Heels to Helen G. Bailey in a question and answer post below.
Why the switch?
I started Hel On Heels in 2014 because I needed an escape from my day job. I was a new college graduate in a long-distance relationship and my friends had kind of scattered geographically after college. I was lonely and needed a hobby. So I started Hel On Heels so I could have something to do after work. All my friends called me “Hel” so I made a pun about making it for the first time on my own two heels and Hel On Heels was born!
My little side hobby quickly became a fun business opportunity. I loved working with brands and evolved my blog style from sharing my ramblings to creating lifestyle content. I took a few courses, worked on my photo editing style, and looked forward to curating content every day.
Seven years later, my blog and my life have really evolved. I’ve gotten married, bought a house, had a baby and grown my little hobby into something I’m really proud of. I’m so thankful for all of the opportunities Hel On Heels has given me. Truly, I’ve had experiences that I could only dream about when I first started my little blog.
However, it’s time to say goodbye to Hel on Heels.
I have big dreams for my blog, and in order to grow the brand, I needed a new name. While Hel On Heels is a cute pun, it’s confusing to some. I get called “Helon” a lot in emails or people add an extra “l” on the end of Hel. I already changed my Instagram handle a few months ago for this very reason. In addition, I don’t think Hel On Heels sent a clear message about the content of my blog. A lot of people thought my blog was about shoes.
With this rebrand, I chose to go with my own name. I like having anything under the brand attached to my actual name. This way, if I ever want to start a line of something, it will be under my name. Professionally, I also use all three names (Helen Gaillet Bailey), but Gaillet is hard to spell. So for this rebrand, I just cut it down to G. I feel like having a clean and easy name will help with the professional goals I have for this blog!
What are the new features of your website?
I have several new areas. I have an updated shop page that I LOVE! It’s an all-in-one page rather than my multiple boutique pages. I am just getting it going but will be updating it frequently. I also just have more elevated pages throughout. For example, my about, FAQ, and work with me pages have been overhauled and I think they look great!!
I also have a new landing page for my Instagram. I am so happy with it and feel that it is so easy to navigate around the site from your phone.
Finally, I have reworked my newsletter! I am really excited about this piece. I have really thought about what I want to share in my newsletter and have done a full redesign here. From now on, “The Collective” will hit your inbox every Monday. You will receive additional content every week outside of what I post on the blog. I recommend signing up! You will also receive the announcements and news before everyone else!
What’s up next?
More content! Now that I have more of a tailored approach to what I’m doing and have finished rebranding my site, I’m so excited to start cranking out content again. You can expect more frequent posts on all things entertaining, style, beauty, home and family.
Also, since we are announcing a new brand today, I might as well go ahead and tell you about my Halloween project since I keep teasing it on Instagram.
I’ll be posting something Halloween-related every day during the month of October. I have already started shooting and editing content. Expect posts every day on IG and the blog. I’ll have posts with party inspo, decor, DIY projects, recipe ideas, outfits and 10 ideas for mama-and-me Halloween costumes (we’ve already been shooting these, and Ben in Halloween costumes is my new favorite thing.)
Also, I have a huge surprise project in the works that I am hoping will launch by the end of this year! Keep your eyes and ears out for that! Again, now would be a great time to sign up for my newsletter, The Collective.
Do your handles match?
Almost! Everything but Facebook. I am @helengbailey on Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and TikTok. On Facebook, I am @helengbaileyblog. I also have a new email: helen@helengbailey.com.
Where do your old posts live?
They are still here! I’ve merged all my Hel On Heels content to my new site. Even though I have a strategic plan going forward, all my older posts live on. Hel On Heels posts should all redirect to their helengbailey.com equivalent. If you see something wonky, please let me know!
I think that about covers it for now! I am so excited about this change and am ready to hit the ground running with this new brand. A new name and a new site gave me a whole burst of energy surrounding the blog and I can’t wait to see where it goes.
Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems
as though you relied on thee video to make your point.
You clearly know wat youre talking about, why waste your intelligence on just posting videos to your blog when you could be giving uss something informative tto read?

Hi this is kind of of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have
to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding experience so I wanted to get guidance from someone with
experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!
