Is there anything better than a donut? It really is the perfect treat for any occasion. Need a pick me up before work? Donut. Need to host a brunch with friends? Donuts. It’s a Tuesday? Donut. This perfect treat really is the answer for all occasions. Today, I’m sharing this fun donut board that can be customized for any occasion. With Valentine’s Day coming up, I went with more of a pink and red vibe.
These donuts were all made in our Instant Pot/Air Fryer. We have quickly become obsessed with this appliance. Making donuts in the air fryer is incredibly easy! For this board, I made pink glazed donuts, chocolate chip and cinnamon sugar donuts.
Check out how to make a Galentine’s Day charcuterie board here.
Here are the ingredients and directions for each.
Chocolate Chip Ingredients:
-Pillsbury chocolate chip biscuit dough with icing
Pink glazed donuts:
–Pillsbury biscuit dough
-1/2 cup butter
-1.5 cup of powdered sugar
-4 tablespoons of milk
-2 tsps of Vanilla Extract
-Pink food coloring
-Sprinkles
Cinnamon Sugar
–Pillsbury biscuit dough
-1/2 cup sugar
-2 tsps of cinnamon (this is a guess. Honestly, I just poured sugar and cinnamon into a bowl)
-Butter
For all three:
-cooking spray
-Round cookie cutter (I used a shot glass lol)
Directions:
1. Take your biscuit dough out of the tubes and use your round cookie cutter to cut a hole in the middle. Put the center dough to the side.
2. Spray your air fryer with cooking spray.
3. Put as many donuts in the air fryer that will fit your appliance. If you have the Instant Pot/Air Fryer, I did three at a time.
4. Fry the donuts for 6 minutes flipping halfway through. So three minutes, then flip, and three more minutes.
5. Take them out and add your extras.
Here are specific directions for the extras:
Chocolate chip:
6. Spread the icing that came with the biscuits to warm donuts.
Pink glazed donuts:
6. In a small saucepan, melt your butter over low heat.
7. Add your powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract and mix well. There should be no lumps from your powdered sugar.
8. Add in pink food coloring. I did this in a separate bowl because I didn’t want to put food coloring directly in my sauce pan, but up to you!
9. Transfer glaze to a bowl.
10. Dip your donut in the glaze when it comes out of the air fryer.
11. Shake sprinkles over the donut or dip directly into a plate of sprinkles.
Cinnamon Sugar:
6. Mix together your cinnamon and sugar in a bowl or plate.
7. Melt your butter and brush onto the donut right as it comes out of the air fryer.
8. Dip your buttered donut into the cinnamon sugar mixture.
I also fried the donut holes because I didn’t want them to go to waste! I just decreased the time that these were in the air fryer to two minutes on each side.
Once your donuts are completed, it’s time to craft your donut board. I used a large wooden cutting board we have. I placed the donuts randomly all over the board, added some sliced strawberries, donut holes and faux eucalyptus. If you want to host more of a “donut tasting” you could put the same flavors together with cute little markers. Or if you are making a lot of donuts, you can stack multiple layers. Play with what works for your board!
