My mom gave me this great insulated lunch tote (similar) for Christmas. After the baby is born and my maternity leave is over, I plan to use it to transfer all the milk I have to pump at the office back to my house. For now though, I am using it as an actual lunch tote to bring all my preggo snacks to work.
I love this tote because it comes with two small snack containers, two large snack containers and an ice pack. I love the grey because it’s neutral and matches all my outfits. The inside has a pocket for things you don’t want to lose, and the entire bag is insulated. When I get to the office, I can put some of my colder snacks in my mini-fridge, but even if I didn’t do that, the insulated tote keeps everything cold.
This is one of my favorite Christmas presents because I’m hungry lol. I don’t really do lunch right now because there isn’t a ton of room with my baby and my organs. Instead, I just bring a tote full of snacks that I can eat all day. I’m into lots of little snacks over one big meal right now. Plus it will be great post-maternity leave to transfer my milk.
Here are some of my favorite preggo snacks:
Rice cakes – I bought the individual packs of mini-rice cakes rather than the large bag of rice cakes. If I get the large bag of rice cakes and try to separate them out into smaller portions, I eat too many. They’re tasty, I can’t help it.
Apple slices and peanut butter – I pre-slice my apples at home and put the slices into one of my containers in the tote. Then I just bought a little jar of peanut butter and put that in my tote too.
Avocado with everything bagel seasoning – I had this in a salad in Philadelphia on a work trip two years ago. It changed my world. Now this is my favorite snack. Slice an avocado, and sprinkle a little everything bagel seasoning on top. You can get it at Trader Joes, Kroger or Amazon. If you’re home and feeling fancy, you can add an egg. When you’re pregnant they tell you to kind of steer clear from runny eggs though. Also, I’m not whipping up eggs at my desk, so I just stick to the avocado and seasoning. I feel extra enough slicing an avocado at my desk.
Sabra Hummus Cups – I know it is so much cheaper to just get a regular size container of hummus and some pretzel chips, but again I will eat too many. Also, a full thing of hummus doesn’t fit quite as well in my mini-fridge. So these little guys are a better option for me.
Safe + Fair Granola – I know everyone and their mother talks about this, but it’s really because it’s that tasty. I like the key lime, birthday cake and apple cinnamon flavors. I put a bit in one of the smaller containers.
Grapes – Grapes have been one of my favorite snacks my whole life. They are very low-maintenance. Just wash, throw in one of the containers and snack on them throughout the day.
Baby Carrots – Same as above lol. I am eating less of these because I got sick first trimester after eating them, and I just have bad memories. Hopefully, we will make up soon.
Boiled egg – Even though I’m not whipping up eggs at my desk, I do sometimes bring a boiled egg that I boiled and peeled at home.
H2O – I’m so picky about my water right now. It has to be FREEZING or it makes me sick, but I honestly crave it. This is hilarious because pre-pregnancy I always forgot to drink water. I want it all the time now. I usually use my Hydroflask or Primula cup to keep it cold.
What is your favorite snack? Pregnant or not, I want to know!
