We just got back from the beach! With COVID, we decided to move our social distancing from our house to the beach. We stayed very safe, but it was nice to get out of the house for a week.
Today, I’m rounding up my 2020 beach essentials. I’m pretty pale, so I end up taking a lot of things to the beach. Here’s a list of my must-haves.
Frozen drinks in a bag – Stephen and I found these and decided to try them knowing that they could be gross. We were VERY pleasantly surprised. There are a lot of flavors. We took the pina colada, peach bellini and mojito bags. There are a lot of other flavors, but each has specific instructions. You fill with liquor or wine, shake, fill the rest with water, shake again and freeze. After a few hours just squeeze the bag and serve. These pack GREAT!
Flamingo beach blankets – I have a slight obsession with flamingos. It was my sorority chapter mascot in college plus they’re pink! Win, win really. I bought a round flamingo blanket a few years ago from Red Dress Boutique, then a few years later I bought this one. I linked a few more options of the round flamingo beach blankets below.
3-in-1 Yard Game set – We spend HOURS at the beach so we need activities. This 3-in-1 game set has cornhole, ladder ball and washer toss. So you can change up what you play throughout the day.
Hair Mask – My hair gets so damaged at the beach. It gets wind blown, full of sand and sunscreen, and takes a dip in the ocean. Not to mention the sun! Because of this, I wash it every day where at home I don’t. So I love to bring a hair mask and give it a good condition while I’m at the beach. I love this one from Eva NYC. You can learn more about it on my post here.
Skinny can koozie – Like every basic in her 20’s, I love White Claw. For Christmas, my best friend got me a skinny can koozie. It was one of my favorite gifts of all time. For my sister’s birthday, I got her one too. Now that LOTS of things come in a skinny can, Stephen uses one too for Corona Premiers at the beach. This is something I didn’t necessarily need, but now that I have one I can’t imagine life without it.
Whipped sunscreen – I hate sunscreen. Truly. However, my make-up shade is “translucent” (not a joke), so I require sunscreen any time I leave the house. I hate feeling greasy and slimy though. This whipped sunscreen is my favorite sunscreen in the entire world. It comes out like shaving cream and absorbs into your skin so smoothly without leaving a gross top layer. I love it!
Flamingo beach clips – If you have flamingo beach towels, you need flamingo beach chair clips, no?
Wide brim hat – When I say wide-brim, I mean wide-brim. I would like to hide my entire body under my hat. I’ve linked other options below.
Convertible cover up – I did a last minute purchase with this convertible cover-up, and I’m so glad I did. You can either wrap this around your waist, or tie it like a dress. The floral print is really pretty and goes with my many, many, many black one pieces.
Beach tent – Ok pale friends. You just need to give up the notion that you will be naturally tan and protect your pretty skin. We bought this canopy for my whole family to fit underneath, but this option is great for one or two people.
Unseen Sunscreen – I love SuperGoop! Products. This Unseen Sunscreen is the best. I love it for the same reason I love the Whipped sunscreen. It doesn’t give the slimy gross layer on top of your skin.
That’s basically my list, what are your favorite beach essentials?
