Today, I’m sharing how to make a pineapple floral arrangement. This is the perfect arrangement for a centerpiece or buffet display at your luau, backyard barbeque or summer party. It’s very easy and will look beautiful on a table at your party. I’m breaking down the steps in this video and also below.
To make a pineapple floral arrangement, you will need:
-A pineapple
-Scissors or shears
-a glass
-a pineapple corer
-flowers
First, you will need to select your glass. Measure it against the diameter of your pineapple corer. Make sure it is smaller so you know the glass will fit. Then measure the glass against the pineapple. Cut the top of your pineapple off at the same height of your glass. I would do it over a cutting board because pineapples are juicy.
Next, use your pineapple corer to hollow out your pineapple. Place it in the middle of your pineapple and start twisting. Once you are finished, cut out the core with a knife. You’ll be left with a hollow flat pineapple
Test your glass again. If it’s too tall (like mine was) then you may need to find a smaller glass.
Next, prepare your stems. Remove all the leaves and buds that will fall below the water line from your stems. It is going to be a short arrangement, so prepare to remove a lot. Don’t skip this step even if it is tedious. Leaving leaves and buds in the water will cause bacteria to grow. Once your stems are prepped, cut your stems at a 45 degree angle. Be conservative with your cuts. You can cut again if they are too long, but you can’t make stems grow.
Now comes the fun part! You get to arrange your flowers. Make an “L” with your finger and thumb and start add three flowers at a time. Then twist the bouquet. By doing this you’ll be able to see the entire picture and make a very full bouquet.
Fill the glass with water and put it in pineapple. If your bouquet came with flower food, go ahead and pour it into the water. If it didn’t, you can make your own using the recipe below.
Flower food recipe:
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon bleach
Mix in a small bowl and add to your water.
Put the bouquet you made into the water. Some of the flowers might fall out because we are putting the bouquet into a small space. Take some time to put those back in and rearrange any that feel out of place.
Take a minute to appreciate your work!
