I post a lot about health and wellness on this blog. While I usually talk about skin, beauty, and internal health, today I want to focus on something really important: oral health!
Oral health is SO important. Not only is oral health linked to overall health, but good oral hygiene can freshen your breath, brighten your smile, and increase your confidence!
I have a background of dental drama. A little behind the scenes for you: I have an extremely small mouth. It’s so little that my teeth don’t have a lot of places to go. They are very close together which makes flossing a nightmare. I also have to go to the dentist every four months rather than every six to monitor my gums. Like I said, drama, drama, drama.
My routine was pretty high-maintenance. I was brushing, flossing, using a specialty mouthwash and toothpaste, and going to the dentist frequently. Today, I want to share with you why I was able to update my routine for the Waterpik® Sonic-Fusion® flossing toothbrush— the world’s first flossing toothbrush! Hover over the image below to start shopping and improve your current routine too!
The Sonic-Fusion is a simple, no-hassle solution to flossing every time you brush your teeth. It is up to 2x as effective as regular brushing and flossing, removes up to 99.9% of plaque from treated areas, and is up to 50% more effective for improving gum health versus string floss.
This is music to my tiny mouth’s ears! I love being able to use the same device for my whole routine and ditch the string!
So how does it work? Well there are three settings on the Sonic-Fusion: brush, floss, and brush and floss (at the same time). I like to do my routine separately. So I begin my routine with the “brush” setting. I allow the device head to clean the surfaces of my teeth like the photo below. I leave it plugged in because I’m lazy, but you can disconnect the brush from the water tube by pressing the button on the back.
Next, I push the “floss” mode and let the Water Flosser jet inside the brush head target plaque and debris between teeth and below the gumline where bristles can’t reach.
A couple of things to note while you are in “floss” mode:
1. Lean over and look into the sink! It’s fine to look up while you are brushing, but flossing go ahead and look into the sink.
2. Make sure the product is in your mouth before you turn it on.
3. Start on the lowest setting and work your way up.
4. Make sure your basin is full of warm water to avoid sensitivity.
If you want to brush and floss at the same time, push the brush button first and then the floss button. Be sure you’re looking into the sink for this mode as well. The Sonic-Fusion is available at Walmart in the oral care aisle. I love my Sonic-Fusion. It has made my dental care routine so much more convenient. Have you tried the Sonic-Fusion? What is your favorite feature?
