Happy Monday! How was your first week of the new year?
I was pretty stressed about going back to work and my routine, so I wanted to do something to chill out the first week of 2019. I decided this was the perfect week to try Salt Therapy. I actually thought about this back before Christmas break. I knew like December 20th that I would be stressed out January 3rd, so I scheduled my appointment at Intown Salt Room before the break.
I was totally right and my appointment couldn’t have come at a better time. This post isn’t sponsored, I just legitimately loved my experience and think that everyone needs to know about salt therapy.
Ok, so what is salt therapy?
Basically salt therapy helps to calm daily noise, clear your mind and restore balance. Dry salt is a natural healer and creates a sense of calmness for people of all ages. It’s great for people who have trouble with anxiety, stress, fatigue, snoring and sleeping problems, Psoriasis, Eczema, acne, allergies, asthma, and ear infections. It’s perfect for men and women, you can wear your own clothes, and just take a beat to relax and unwind.
Like I mentioned, I went to Intown Salt Room in Atlanta. This is the only stand-alone salt therapy facility in Atlanta and it has two different experiences: relax and breathe.
The relax experience is a shared meditation room that combines Himalayan salt with sound therapy to help you relax. In this room, you put on a pair of headphones and lie in a zero gravity Wave Loungers. It’s a whole body sensory experience. This mind and body meditation encourages you to be present and calm, and leaves you rested and rejuvenated.
The breathe experience is a private room made completely of Himalayan salt, and is infused with the purest of salt air. You sit in a zero gravity chair, put on a pair of headphones, and get comfy under a blanket for 30 minutes. Breathing in a dry salt room can help cleanse your airways and allow you to take in more oxygen for a deeper breath. In addition to respiratory benefits, dry salt can have a positive effect on skin and be naturally calming to help relieve stress, anxiety and fatigue.
This is the experience I did. I was a little flustered when I got there from traffic and making it to my appointment on time, and I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to relax. I was so wrong lol. I got into my chair, started listening to the music, and was so cozy under my blanket.
I clonked out.
Legitimately, I fell sound asleep. I woke up rejuvenated and relaxed, but not after 20 minutes of good sleep. Carrie, Intown Salt Room’s Owner, said that is totally normal and happens all the time. She also had to wake me up lol.
I’m so obsessed with the effects of salt therapy, I’m trying to convince Stephen we need a dry salt room in our house. You can beat a place where you can legitimately relax and unwind. Until I get a salt room in my house, I’m SO thankful for Intown Salt Room and am going to start booking regular sessions.
You can read all about the benefits of salt therapy here. I also put together a short little Vlog of the experience. It’s really short and has my real-time reactions and some up-close shots of the facility. Hope you enjoy!
Have you ever tried salt therapy? What were your thoughts?
That sounds absolutely wonderful! I had noticed a few places near me in Minnesota that offer salt therapy but I never thought much about it. After all the stress of the holidays and starting a new year, it sounds like a real treat. I’ll have to book a stop at one of them ASAP!
GIRL HECK YES! I have been to a spa with multiple “healing rooms” and one of which was the Himalayan salt rooms, and I must say I was OBSESSED! I always think of salt rooms as a detox, like how bath salts are! I remember lying in the room and guzzling water, and afterwards my skin looked so radiant! LOVED this post girl! xoxo
This sounds like the perfect way to relax. I haven’t heard of or tried salt therapy, but it sounds like something I need to try very soon. I’m going to research if there is one in my area or at least close by (hello weekend get-away).
It was perfect timing to see this post! A friend and I are dog/horse sitting for a friend at the beginning of February and she called today to let me know she booked us in at the salt therapy place near her house. I was already excited about it and now I’m even more so!
Oh, this sounds amazing and SO relaxing! I’ve never tried salt therapy, but I’ve tried floatation chambers (sensory deprivation) and I too clonked out – except on water! Haha, I woke up so disoriented, but peaceful! Def adding this to my list!
Oh this sounds so relaxing! I’d love to try this someday.
That sounds really relaxing – I’ve never heard of it before but I’d totally try it!
I definitely want to try salt therapy. Our small town just opened up a spa and we went and bought a salt lamp which I’m obsessed with!
