You can make donuts using biscuit dough! I used regular and chocolate chip biscuit dough here.

Directions:
1. Take your biscuit dough out of the tubes and use a round cookie cutter (or any small round glass) to cut a hole in the middle. Put the center dough to the side.
2. Spray your air fryer with cooking spray.
3. Put as many donuts in the air fryer that will fit your appliance. If you have the Instant Pot/Air Fryer, I did three at a time.
4. Fry the donuts for 6 minutes flipping halfway through. So three minutes, then flip, and three more minutes.
5. Take them out and add your icing!
6. You can use the middle pieces to make donut holes.

Let's make the easiest clam cookies for summer par Let's make the easiest clam cookies for summer parties! These would go well with the crabby chicken salad croissants I shared a few weeks ago.

To make these, add icing the the back of a Nilla wafer. Place a second cookie on top allowing the front to be open while the backs are touching. Add candy eyes or pearls to the icing.

You can make these in lots of colors. I was feeling pink, but blue or purple is totally on theme for a mermaid party or a "let's shell-a-brate" party!

What I’m Reading Lately

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve talked about books. I like to read and in 2018 I made a deal with myself that I would read more. I joined a book club with my friends at the end of 2017 and it really helped me with that goal.

Every once in awhile I write one of these “what I’m reading posts,” but it’s been a minute. Time for a new list!

Whiskey in a Teacup by Reese Witherspoon. I love Reese Witherspoon more than life itself. She and I have the same birthday so we’re practically soulmates. I was thrilled when she came out with a book. I read this one on the beach and it was perfect for that. It’s filled with funny stories about growing up in the south, tutorials on southern hair and hosting parties, and recipes from her grandmother. Reading this book was like coming home. It was like my mom, grandma, aunts, and I wrote this book. I loved it.

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. Ironically, this was one of Reese Witherspoon’s book club picks and she is now making it into a movie. I loved this book. It’s really hauntingly beautiful and sad. The story focuses on Kya “The Marsh Girl.” Her mother leaves her at a very young age, and slowly the remainder of her family leaves too. She’s alone and learns how to survive off the land. Two boys from town fall for her and when one of them dies, the town immediately suspects it’s her. I can’t wait to see how they cast the movie. This was one of my favorite reads this year. I legitimately couldn’t put it down.

Becoming By Michelle Obama. I like to read about the first families. I read the Bush Twin’s book last year and this year is all about Michelle Obama. I love finding out how Michelle became Michelle. This is an autobiography of her life. It begins with her childhood, and tells her story all the way through the present. She’s a beautiful writer–and very honest. Her story is witty, descriptive, and compelling and I tore through this one too. It’s really really good!

The Nest by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney. This one wasn’t my favorite, in that I didn’t like any of the characters in the book. Sometimes books are like that though. This book is all about family and the dysfunctions that come with it. The story focuses on the adult children of the Plumb family who are about to receive their joint inheritance or “The Nest.” I liked it, but wasn’t my favorite on this list. It’s definitely a quick and easy read.

The Third Wife: A Novel by Lisa Jewell. I picked this one up because it said “Fans of Liane Moriarty and Jojo Moyes.” Those are two of my favorite authors so I was eager to tear into this one. The description was correct, I liked this book a lot! A man marries his third wife when she gets hit by a bus. Was it an accident or did she step in front of it on purpose? He begins to look into her death., and many secrets are revealed. It’s a really great mystery (my favorite genre). I definitely recommend this one.

What about you? What are you reading lately? Have you read any of these?
