I want to talk about sleeping masks.
It’s no secret that I love GLOW Recipe. I have talked about the watermelon sleeping mask on this blog so many times I’ve lost count. I love a product that works for you while all you do is get some beauty rest.
The watermelon mask is the bomb.com and one of my all-time favorite products, but then GLOW Recipe threw a game-changer into the mix. At the end of 2018, they released the avocado mask and my love was split between TWO masks.
Because they have two incredible sleeping masks on the market, I thought today was an excellent day to do a side-by-side comparison. That way, if you are thinking about trying one or the other, you have all the facts and can select the one that targets your needs and skin type.
I broke it out into two different sections and left you a Reader’s Digest infographic at the bottom.
So let’s start with the Watermelon Glow Mask.
The watermelon glow sleeping mask is a breathable pillow-proof sleeping mask that smooths and perfects skin overnight. It’s 98% watermelon combined with AHAs and Hyaluronic Acid. This product delivers post-facial results without actually having to go get a facial. It’s made for all skin types, but works the best with oily and combination to normal skin. It’s a gel that leaves skin feeling smooth and bouncy.
This mask is a great solution for uneven skin tone, dullness and uneven texture, and oiliness. It accomplishes this by removing dead, rough surface cells. This clears the path for intense hydration. Hyaluronic acid binds moisture to the skin for an incredibly nourished complexion. You wake up with really really soft and glowy skin.
Ok so now let’s focus on the Avocado mask.
The avocado melt sleeping mask is a thicker, breatheable pillow-proof mask. It was created after the watermelon mask to give people with dry skin smooth and supple skin, but that packed more of a punch. It eliminates dry flakes and dull texture to give you a healthy, hydrated glow. It also works for all skin types, but is obviously best for dry skin.
The thicker creamier texture does take a while longer to absorb, but once it does is totally breathable and won’t rub off on your pillow. This mask targets dryness, dullness, uneven texture, loss of firmness and elasticity.
So what do they have in common? Both of these masks are designed to give a smooth, hydrated glow. They are both natural, harsh-free, and cruelty-free products. They are applied the same way with a small spatula. They both leave your skin feeling amazing.
Why do I have both? I have normal/combo skin, however it gets super dry in the winter. So the answer is simple really, when I’m feeling dried out I use the Avocado and when I’m feeling normal I use the watermelon. Since it’s winter, I’ve been using the avocado mask a little more frequently, but once it heats up I’ll be favoring the watermelon.
They are both great and the results are legit after one night’s sleep. I use them 2-3 times per week. Obviously I love this brand because I mention it all the time, so if you’re thinking about one of these masks I highly recommend you take the plunge.
Do you have a GLOW recipe sleeping mask? Which is your favorite?
