Hello hello! Talking about something a little unsettling today and that is screen time.
I did the math and realized I spend approximately 112 hours a week looking at a screen.. I have a full time job where I spend all day looking at a screen, then I come home and blog and look at a screen, and usually watch some shows before bed. The majority of my life is looking at a screen. I had started getting really bad migraines and figured my screen time had something to do with it, so I did a little research.
Turns out I was pretty spot on. Our eyes are not designed to be exposed to blue light emitted by computer screens, phones, and television constantly. This strong blue light causes eye fatigue, dry eyes, blurred vision, headaches. It also alters the release of melatonin which prevents us from falling asleep easily and degrades sleep quality. So I wanted to do something about this and invested in a pair of blue light blocker glasses from Pixel. I purchased the Thera frames in champagne crystal. I love these frames because they are chic and have a clear frame with just a hint of champagne coloring. The frames are medium width. You can put a prescription in these lenses if you so choose, but my prescription is for distance. I can see much better up close without my prescription, so I chose to do just the blue blocker technology.
I went with the Pixel brand because they are able to filter out blue light and harmful wave lengths without the yellow tint that you see on other blue light blocker glasses. These have clear lenses, so they remain fashionable while functional. They just look like normal glasses rather than glasses that are specifically for computers or screen time. They also had many different styles rather than just one or two.
Since I have been using my Pixel glasses, my headaches have decreased so much. I am sleeping better at night, and don’t feel like I want to take a nap the minute I step out of the office. They really have made such a huge difference in my overall well-being.
So what about you? Do you use blue light blocker glasses? How many hours a week do you spend looking at a screen?
So much of my time is spent on a screen, unfortunately. Between work, blogging, and keeping up with online banking, payments, etc. There is a lot of screen time in my life. I do wear glasses, but only and night and I typically don’t struggle with headaches thankfully!
That’s great that you don’t struggle with headaches. I got them terribly so these blue-blocker glasses were a game-changer.
I’ve never heard of blue light blocker glasses prior to today, but I’m so glad that I came across your post! I didn’t realize how important it was to be protecting your eyes from this. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Emily! I love mine. They were such a game-changer.
I spend a ton of time on the computer too. I tried computer glasses in the pass, but they were a cheap pair and they were not very comfortable, so I’ll need to invest in a better pair. Thanks for the sharing about the Pixel one’s, I’ll be checking them out.
I love the Pixel brand because they were cute and functional, but there are a lot of different brands. Let me know if you end up finding a pair you love.
Never heard of these glasses but I need them considering all I do is work on the computer.
They are amazing! I would recommend looking into some blue-blocker glasses if you look at a lot of screens.
I didn’t know these type of glasses existed but it makes sense. My optometrist told me recently that I needed to get something for my monitor, so I guess she doesn’t know either.
These were a game changer. My eyes and head would hurt without them!
Oooh how cute are these?! I have a pair from Phonetic Eyewear that I wear all the time.
Ooh I haven’t heard of that brand. I need to check it out!
I’m on the computer all the time with blogging and a lot at my day job, so I should totally look into these!

yasss! that’s what my glasses are and i love them! My eyes get so fatigued otherwise!
Ah! I’m glad you love them too. They were a game changer for me.
I need to get some of these. I wear prescription glasses (and contacts) but sometimes my eyes get tired.
I feel you. These were a game changer and help so much with eye fatigue.
