Where did October go? I mean really. I feel like I was just getting excited that it was finally here and in the blink of an eye, it’s gone. Well not quite. We still have a few days of Halloween fun before we transition into Thanksgiving (or Christmas if you’re some people) mode.
So because we’re still celebrating this fun time, today I’m sharing some spooky snacks for your Halloween celebrations this week. These are all incredibly easy (because let’s face it, I only do easy snacks), and don’t take a lot of time. I made them this weekend and was so pleased with the results.
Mummy Baked Brie. I make baked brie all the time for parties. I think it’s a classy but easy dish that can be easily customized for the occasion by adding different flavor jams or cutting out cute dough shapes to bake on top. This time I did fun twist on an old classic.
To make this, you will need:
-1 package of brie
-1 roll of crescent dough
-Honey for taste.
Pop your crescent dough and unroll on a pan. Place the brie in the middle of the dough. Then take a knife and cut straight slices into the dough around your brie. Gently wrap the brie with each slice to create a mummy effect. Brush with honey and bake according to the crescent dough package. I added candy eyeballs for fun, but if you’re going for a classier look, you can use almonds or your favorite nuts for eyes. Serve with your favorite crackers.
Monster Candy Apple Slices. This was a creation Stephen found online that we decided to put our own little twist on. Full candy apples are hard to eat, but these slices are perfect.
To make these, you will need:
-Four granny smith apples
-A package of Chocolate chips
-Edible eyeballs
-Caramel sauce
-Popsicle sticks
-Parchment paper
Slice your candy apples horizontally with the “shape” of the apple still intact. Insert a popsicle stick into the base of each slice. Melt the package of chocolate chips in the microwave in a large bowl. Dip each slice into the melted chocolate and place on parchment paper. Once each slice is covered, drizzle caramel sauce over the slices (we used a chocolate caramel sauce). Add edible eyeballs for a fun monster effect. Refrigerate to harden the chocolate and sauce.
Mummy Pigs in a Blanket. This is also a very easy twist on an old favorite.
You will need:
-Lil Smokies
-Crescent dough
Make pigs in a blanket as you usually would. However, instead of rolling the dough, slice into “wraps” and wrap the dough around the smokie like a mummy. If we had time we would have added little mustard eyes, but we were running late.
Pumpkin Cheese Ball. I thought this was the cutest little thing, and like the easiest thing I “made” all day.
You will need:
-A cheese ball from the Publix or Kroger cheese section.
-Cheddar cheese
-1 zucchini
Legitimately, all you do is roll the cheese ball in cheddar cheese. Then I popped the stem off a zucchini (I made zucchini rounds for a snack with the rest of the zucchini) for the pumpkin stem. Serve with Wheat Thins or the cracker of your choice. That’s it.. so easy!
There we have it! What are you doing for Halloween this year?
