Ok first things first! If you don’t follow me on Instagram, this would be the week to start! Thursday is my birthday, so every day this week I’m giving away something fun! So far I’ve announced a fun self-tanning package from Fake Bake, $100 to Bauble Bar, and a fabulous package of goodies from Graphique de France. Every morning I have a new giveaway, they all end at the end of the week so there is plenty of time to enter! GO, GO, GO!
Anyways, if you DO follow me on Instagram, you probably saw I was at Charleston Fashion Week last week! My mom and my sister were on Spring break so we made it a girl’s weekend! I received media credentials the last three nights of Fashion Week so we were in Charleston from Thursday to Sunday.
It was even better than you could have imagined. In my life the movie, nothing changes. It was the perfect week networking with other bloggers, media outlets, boutiques, and OF COURSE watching ALL the fashion shows! I had never been before, but since it was such a fabulous week, I thought I would share what I learned from my first experience!
So Charleston Fashion Week is different than New York fashion week because it’s all in one place: Marion Square. So my first tip would be to stay somewhere near there! We Air BNB’d a house that was a quick uber ride away. It really was the cutest house, but if I go again I will try to book early and stay near the square. There are fabulous hotels all around the square so you can just bop right over when the events start!
My second tip would be to get there every night early! There are so many shops, sips and sights to see before the shows begin. The style lounge is a great place to shop local and national boutiques. They have a dj keeping it super lively and fun signature drinks flowing. You can also get some champagne at the Lexus tent (and oggle at some male models next to cars, which I totally did with no chill.) Also, you MUST be there to people watch. Yes the looks in the shows are incredible, but street style is alive and well at Charleston Fashion Week. The outfits on the attendees are worth getting there to see.
My next piece of advice would be to upgrade to VIP tickets at least one night! The VIP tent is super fun and hot pink on the inside. Drinks are provided and there are brie tartlets and other excellent snacks. It’s really fun so I would definitely upgrade at least one night! This year, the VIP tent was sponsored by Gwynn’s of Mount Pleasant, and they did it right!
I would also recommend purchasing tickets for the last night! Saturday is the finale of the week, the announcement of the emerging designer competition, and the after party in the style lounge. Every night is excellent, but Saturday was my favorite. It truly was a culmination of the entire week, and I just loved every minute.
This is obviously just the tip of the iceberg for Lexus Charleston Fashion Week! Don’t worry, I have more coming! Check out my posts next week about fashion in the shows and more about the week as a whole.
Have you ever been to Charleston Fashion Week? What was your favorite part?
I had no idea that Charleston even had a fashion week! It seemed like loads of fun. Charleston is definitely on my bucket list to visit for its history and for some Nicholas Sparks reasons. Guess I have another reason to visit now!
I went to Charleston a couple years ago and it was so much fun there. I really love the energy and atmosphere there. I didn’t get the chance to go to Fashion Week but it looks like a lot of fun! 🙂
That’s so neat that they do a fashion week. I think this would be so fun!
I definitely want to check out Charleston Fashion Week. The events always looks so fun and visiting Charleston is on my travel list for next year! Thanks for sharing your experience 🙂
I wasn’t able to get my schedule coordinated to go this year but it’s definitely on my list for next year. It always looks so fun and I bet you had a blast with your mom and sister! Love your outfit!
I’ve always want to attend Charleston Fashion Week. I’ve never been able to fit it into my schedule. However, it’s on my list to go!
