French food is delicious. Really anytime I bring something French to a party, I feel a little fancier. The problem is, I’m a little inept in the kitchen. However, I am the queen of taking something simple and making it look impressive. I have two French specialties: croquembouche and cheese and chocolate croissants.
Recently, I’ve upped my croissant game with the most delicious French Cheese, Chocolate, and Butter. So even the simplest recipe on the planet has become something so spectacular and impressive at parties. Really, it’s the easiest recipe of all time.
So to make these spectacular but easy croissants, you will need:
–iSTARA P’Tit Basque Pur Brebis (French Cheese)
-2 Rolls of Croissant Dough
Step 1: Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Step 2: Unroll croissant dough and place on baking sheet
Step 3: Melt butter and brush on dough
Step 4: Slice cheese and baking chocolate into thin slices
Step 5: Choose which version you want to make first (chocolate or cheese) and place one of your slices at the fat end of the croissant dough. Slowly roll up the croissant with either your chocolate or cheese inside. Make sure that your filling is tucked in tightly so when it melts it doesn’t go all over the place.
Step 6: Finish all the others and back for 9-11 minutes.
Step 7: When baked, remove from the oven and brush again immediately with butter
Step 8: Place on a pretty tray and make sure to separate the cheese and chocolate versions of the croissants. I recommend some kind of marker.
Step 9: Pair with some delicious wines!
Because all french foods pair well with wine! (Fun fact: I drank this whole bottle while writing this post. SO delicious.)
The cheese and chocolate make such a difference in such a simple snack. The cheese croissants are perfect for an appetizer and the chocolate are perfect with the red wine for an after dinner treat. Fun fact: this cheese is the most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten. It’s officially a staple in our house. Not a lie at all. I want to melt it and eat it on everything.
The best part is that all of these French ingredients are available to Americans and you can get them in your home town!
What’s your favorite French food? Fries do not count… 🙂
