I have had Hel On Heels for a little over two years. I’ve said it over and over, but I love blogging. It’s just a hobby for now, but I love researching and coming up with ideas for topics, staging photos, writing posts, and connecting with other bloggers. For two years, I’ve been content with what I’m doing.
Recently though, I’ve been having the urge to write more and do more to grow my blog. Maybe it was coming off of a blogging break, maybe it was taking some courses or seeing how others are growing while I’m kind of standing still. Either way, I’m feeling inspired to really make this blog the best it can be. So with that, I FINALLY made the switch from Blogger to WordPress.
Blogger was great for starting out, learning the ropes of blogging, and beginning to create content, but I was ready to take the plunge. I’m still in the process of working out all the new kinks and getting my layout and design the way I want it, but for now I am at least up and running. A HUGE thank you to Lisette at High Note Designs for handling the migration. Let’s face it, I would not be able to pull this off by myself and she made everything SO easy. If you are looking to make the switch, she is amazing. She finished my whole migration in ONE DAY and my site was never down.
Ok real question time, what plugins do you just LOVE for WordPress? Also, what platform do you use and why?
I really want to switch to WP as well, but I am a little scared to.
Don’t be scared, you’ll get the hang of it for sure! 🙂
And since it’s such a widely used platform, there are many reviews, tutorials and forums for troubleshooting.
I’m definitely still getting the hang of it, but so far it’s been pretty good!
I started on WP from day one, based on the online marketing course and community I joined. I use a number of plugins for SEO management, affiliate marketing and my various Social feeds.
I use Related Posts Thumbnails, because Jetpack’s “Related Posts” doesn’t seem to work well for me.
I like Instagram Feed by Smash Balloon, because with their shortcode, I can use a page or post as my Instagram feed (for eg. https://girlintherapy.com/my-visual-diary)
I see that you use Snapwidget for Instagram, which seems pretty nifty. The fading transitions add movement/animation to your site, which makes it more lively, which is always a good thing! 🙂
Thanks for the recommendations!
I love wordpress! I have been using it for years and I would not switch to any thing else. What plugins do I use?
