For the first time in my life, I have my own office. I have a window, I have a door, I have four walls that are mine. It’s pretty cool. What’s even cooler is that I’m allowed to decorate it however I wish. It took a few weeks to decide what I wanted to do with my blank canvas, but with the help of my mama and Garden Ridge (which is now At Home) I think I’ve created the space I need.
I painted my office turquoise with a metallic gold accent wall. When the light hits just right, this whole place shines.
My mom helped me pick out the perfect accent rug and wall decor to tie it together. Both of these came from At Home.
Then I filled it with all my favorite things, peacocks, sparkles, gold glitter, photos of the people and places I love.
Top it off with a mouse pad of Mimo in pajamas and this place is truly my own.
Here are a couple of things I keep in mind while I’m decorating:
-The rule of thirds. I love this rule when I’m designing, photographing, or decorating
-Do your colors clash? I get a little brave with my pattern mixing sometimes, but if your colors clash it’s a no go for me.
-Eye level – Eye level for most people is a little taller than for me so I generally hang pictures at forehead level
-Do you love it? – Decorating is not about everyone else. It’s about you and where you feel comfortable and happy. Decorate with you in mind.
What’s your favorite decorating tip?
I love it! I'm dying for a window in my office
Love the decorating of the space. Im currently working up a post on how to decorate my bland huge office at work. I take that back its not bland but its very 'legal' and I need a little something to jazz it up!
So awesome! I wish I had a big office with a window! Love what you've done with your space!
I'm jealous! I want an office! I want to decorate! I want to paint. You'd be ashamed of my cube…
