I am leaving for Jamaica in one week from today! ONE WEEK! For those who don’t know, I won a trip to Jamaica, oh and I’m leaving one week from today. In case I didn’t mention…
I love traveling. More than anything really. So today I’m reliving some of my favorite things about traveling to kick off Jamaica week on the blog.
You can sleep anywhere.
Yes this is a moving train, and yes I am asleep behind those sunglasses.
The Photos.
Forget being beautiful and something completely out of the ordinary. Sometimes you get a perfectly timed photo in front of something awesome.
Meeting the Locals.
We are not in a marina, museum, aquarium or anything else. We are on a public beach in Mexico and a sting ray that big swam up to where we were standing and hung out for 30 minutes and let us pet him. Sometimes life is really cool. Swimming with dolphins was supervised. They’re like the puppies of the sea. Eeee so cute.
No Open Container Laws.
In America, you can only drink in places with liquor licenses and can be under heavy supervision, unless of course it is Mardi Gras or a beer festival. When you travel internationally there are no open container laws. Side note: in Italy, it seems I never went anywhere without a full bottle of wine.
You Get to do Adventurous Things.
Like riding a bike through a crazy jungle.
The Awesome Festivals.
I visited Malta and went to a fiesta every weekend. I think the one that really took the cake was the Palio in Sienna which is a huge horse race. We took this picture before everything really got started…that’s why we are the only people in this picture.
You Learn to be Brave.
Naples is a rough part of Italy. I almost got taken during a train strike and was waiting for Liam Neeson to show up any minute. Reader’s Digest version: we got stuck in Naples on our way to Sorrento during a train strike. I was sitting outside the station with my group, when these men next to me said something along the lines of “blonde americana” and then starting naming Euro prices. We had gone to the Coliseum in Rome earlier that day. So on the way home, when we had to stop back in Naples I borrowed a plastic sword one of our friends bought at the Coliseum. Don’t mess with me, bro!
The Crazy Concoctions You Can’t Have in America.
Those are five liter mojitos, folks…
Who You Become When You’re Traveling.
I don’t know about you, but I become the best version of myself when I’m traveling. I just love it.
What’s your favorite part of traveling?
I both love and hate this post ;D I love this post because it sounds like you have gone on so many adventures! However, I hate it because I have never traveled outside of the United States and I haven't even left my state in what feels like FOREVER ha ha!!
I love traveling so much! I've made a deal with myself that I go somewhere I've never been at least once a year, even if it is in the US.
No open container laws are glorious! I'm so jealous of your upcoming Jamaica trip. I want to come!
I'm ready for America to catch on…
Travelling is so good for the soul! I absolutely grow as a person every single time. Looks like you've had some amazing adventures. Super creepy about what happened in Naples. I'll have to remember to pack a plastic sword if I ever go 😉 And I'm jealous you can sleep anywhere! I'm the opposite. I can't sleep anywhere but a bed unless it's a wine-induced sleep ha!
Oh man travelling is the best thing on the planet! Have so much fun in Jamaica. Ive been several times .. Climb the Dunn's if you get the chance!
Honestly, both of those pictures were wine induced naps…but I really can nap anywhere. It's a gift I hope I never lose!
OH! Thanks for the recommendation! If you have any more PLEASE let me know!
